Heart Transplant effects kidneys

Heart transplants can impact other organs in your body, severely sometimes. In my case as in a lot of others it is my kidneys. I had congestive heart failure for 15 plus years before my transplant. Basically my old heart did not pump out as much blood as it should. Kidney's can be very delicate, and with my heart working  at a reduced function, my kidney's blood supply was diminished for many years. Add that to heavy medications before and after heart transplant, my kidney numbers have been up and down since transplant. At times my numbers get so bad I technically qualify for a Kidney Transplant. Though during those times, the only symptoms I have are swollen legs and some fluctuations in my blood pressure.

This kidney issue, can actually be common among heart transplants. It's not uncommon to see someone getting a kidney transplant soon after a heart transplant, or sometimes even at the same time.  The issue is the medications that keep your new heart healthy also can hurt the kidneys, damned if you do damned if you don't kind of thing thing. I'm not complaining trust me, I'll take this and being able to see my two little boys every day vs the alternative. For any one in a similar situation I don't say these things to tell you to be scared. I say it to prepare you to be strong, something I'm learning you can absolutely live a happy life this way. It just makes you a little more strong mentally.

Stay Tuned , I plan to look into and write about ,Do parts of our personality, traits, memories get transplanted as well? I have  some small changes in me that makes me interested.
